Job summary

South Louisiana Community College in Opelousas, LA seeks a nine-month faculty member in Allied Health to deliver instruction, develop syllabi, and maintain LMS materials. The position emphasizes equitable teaching, timely feedback, and robust office hours to support student success.

The role involves student advising, service on college committees, and developing courses aligned to master syllabi, with expected collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant or related healthcare licensure.
• Relevant diploma or certificate in Medical, Healthcare, or Science with four years of occupational experience.
• Associate degree in the field and three (3) years of occupational experience.
• Baccalaureate degree in the field and at least two (2) years of directly related occupational experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic instruction and prepare course materials.
• Publish the course syllabus and course in the LMS before the start of the course.
• Develop a course schedule/outline covering required content.
• Ensure materials use current pedagogical practices.
• Maintain LMS, respond to student inquiries within 48–72 hours.
• Provide fair and timely grading of coursework.
• Administer required assessments (SRI, SLO, etc.).
• Offer advising and schedule meetings via Starfish or similar tools.
• Participate on college committees and service activities.
• Support student success through office hours and accessible communication.
