Job summary

Howard Head Sports Medicine in Eagle, CO seeks a Medical Assistant for Eagle Urgent Care. This full-time, year-round position supports providers with direct patient care and administrative duties in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, venipunctures, injections and IV therapy as needed, documenting in the EHR, and coordinating patient flow. A minimum of 2 years in patient care and relevant MA certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in patient care and admin duties.
• Ability to perform venipunctures and injections; IV therapy preferred.
• Basic medical terminology, HIPAA compliance and OSHA rules.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient care and document care in the EHR.
• Field patient phone calls promptly and professionally.
• Support examinations, procedures, and direct patient care activities.
• Prepare patients for procedures, including venipuncture and injections.
• Monitor patient condition and communicate care plans with providers.
• Maintain room supply, cleanliness, and equipment; follow opening/closing procedures.

About the opportunity:

Responsible for independently assisting providers with patient care, maintaining patient records and completing administrative duties that assist in the management of patient care.

What you will do:

• Obtains, monitors, and records vital signs, patient history, and invasive procedures; ensuring accuracy and proper documentation in the patient’s Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Fields patient phone calls promptly and in a professional manner.
• Assists providers and other clinical staff with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
• Prepares patient for scheduled procedures, including venipunctures, injections, and initiates intravenous therapy as necessary.
• Monitors medical condition of patient and report change to appropriate provider.
• Maintains patient documentation and communicates plan of care with provider including ordered diagnostics or therapeutic services.
• Ensures cleanliness, adequate stock of supplies and functioning equipment in examination rooms. Replaces supplies depleted on a daily basis. Cleans and sterilizes equipment and tools. Completes shift opening and closing procedures.

• Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years experience with applicable patient care and administrative duties preferred
• Ability to perform venipunctures, administer injections, and initiate intravenous therapy preferred
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology, medical equipment, HIPAA compliance and OSHA rules and regulations.

License(s):

One of the following is required prior to starting:

• Medical Assistant:
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologist (AMT)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcare Association
  • Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) by the American Medical Certification Association
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant by the National Association for Health Professionals
• State of Colorado Licensed Practical Nurse or valid compact state license
• State of Colorado Emergency Medical Technician license

CNA or EMT license pay range: $22.00 – $28.39

Medical Assistant certification pay range: $23.20 – $31.00

LPN, RN, or Paramedic pay range: $25.47 – $35.98

Certification(s):

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
