Job summary

California Correctional Health Care Services is hiring a Medical Assistant at Salinas Valley State Prison in Soledad, Monterey County. The MA provides patient-oriented support to the Primary Care Team and assists with daily clinic operations and administrative duties.

Under supervision, the MA helps address patient needs, communicates with patients and staff, and promotes efficient, resource-conscious care within a corrections setting.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid certificate from an agency approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Medical Board of California to practice as a Medical Assistant.
• ACTIVE certification status prior to appointment.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Assistant provides support to the Primary Care Team (PCT) for daily clinic operations and performs patient-oriented procedures.
• Addresses ongoing patient needs and communicates effectively with patients and health care team members.
• Promotes efficient, cost-effective use of health care resources under clinical direction.
