Job summary

Tidelands Health in Myrtle Beach, SC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant I to join our patient-care team. You will support clinicians with exams, vitals, EKGs, phlebotomy, and medication administration according to physician authorization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NCMA/AMCA/AMT) or equivalent credentials required.
• BLS certification required or obtainable.
• Healthcare experience preferred, especially in patient-facing roles.

Responsibilities

• Accompany patients to exam rooms and prepare for examinations.
• Record vital signs and document accurately.
• Assist with procedures and administer medications with physician authorization.
• Perform EKGs and use CPR when required.
• Collect blood via phlebotomy and provide patient education on policies and care.

A Brief Overview

The Certified Medical Assistant functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care. The Medical Assistant, Certified performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly.

What You Will Do

• Accompanying patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams
• Performing and documenting vital signs
• Assisting with procedures
• Preparing and administering medications with physician’s authorization
• Performing EKGs
• Using CPR skills when required
• Drawing blood
• providing patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets
• Responsible for stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms, cleaning instruments, disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards, and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
• Adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred

Experience Qualifications

• At least 1 year of related customer facing experience Required
• healthcare experience Preferred

• Computer knowledge
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients’ families/visitors and clinical staff, including all levels of providers
• Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
