Job summary

Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health is seeking a part-time Certified Medical Assistant for the Family Practice department in Brandon, FL. The role supports physicians and APPs in ambulatory care, with emphasis on patient data collection, exam preparation, and documentation.

The position offers tuition reimbursement, PSLF, and leadership development, plus comprehensive benefits and PTO. Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school or 1 year exp as CMA.
  • Maintains BLS certification and CMA/CCMA or other listed MA credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable to supervisor for operational issues.
  • Participates in quality initiatives and process improvement.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and families.
  • Gathers patient data through interviews and observation.
  • Assists during examinations and procedures.
  • Documents data, treatments, and education in the EMR.

Position Summary: Perform patient care under the direction of the physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in an ambulatory setting.

Education/Training
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or at least one (1) year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a patient care setting) required.

Essential Functions
  • Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
  • Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
  • Supports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients and family members.
  • Works collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff.
  • Gathers patient data through interviews and observation.
  • Assists patients and families with preparation for examination.
  • Assists the physician or APP during examination and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice.
  • Provides routine treatments and administers approved medication types.
  • Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department-specific policies.
  • Assists the physician or APP by acting as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule and provide scheduling information for specialty testing and/or specialty physician consultation.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing calls independently and professionally using sound clinical judgment.
  • Enters medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under the direction of a provider.
  • Adheres to and assured compliance with Orlando Health and department-specific policies, procedures, value statements, and Commitment to Excellent standards.
  • Consistently demonstrates personal and patient safety practices and adheres to infection control standards outlined in Orlando Health policies.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and assesses data appropriate to the age-specific needs of patients in their assigned department and/or unit.
  • Demonstrates awareness of medical/legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Practices efficient use of supplies.
  • Assists the business office as needed with reception, scheduling, and discharge of patients.
