Job summary

UNC Health in North Carolina is hiring Medical Assistants, Certified, across locations. Full-time, 36-40 hours per week. AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA certification is required or strongly preferred.

AHA/ARC BLS certification is required. Education: None required if other qualifications are met; completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program is preferred. Experience: Prior MA externship or at least one year full-time as Credentialed MA for advancement and growth within the UNC Health

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES is strongly preferred but not required.
• Must have Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC is required.
• For MA II, at least one year of full-time experience as a Credentialed Medical Assistant is required.

Requirements

Education Requirements

• None required as long as other position qualifications are met.
• Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is strongly preferred but not required.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

• Requires Medical Assistant certification by either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA).
• Basic Life Support Certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required.

Professional Experience Requirements

• Medical Assistant I, Certified: Prior medical assistant or medical assistant externship experience preferred.
• Medical Assistant II, Certified: Possess at least one year of full-time experience as a Credentialed Medical Assistant. Demonstrate possession of the competencies outlined in the Credentialed Medical Assistant Advancement Worksheet through their application and interview.
