ArchWell Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a bilingual Medical Assistant (Center Float) to support front office and clinical duties across our centers. You will greet patients, take vital signs, document in EClinicalWorks, and assist the PCP with daily workflows.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be bilingual (Spanish) and pass formal proficiency exam.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training.
  • A minimum of 1 year work experience as a Medical Assistant preferred, but not required.
  • 6+ months phlebotomy experience is highly desired.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
  • EClinicalWorks or similar EMR experience.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome members upon arrival and help them feel safe and at home, navigating through a seamless and clear check-in process.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals for a multi-disciplinary care team
  • Update member information in the electronic medical records system
  • Request medical records and upload documentation to electronic medical records system
  • Conduct intake with patients, measuring and recording vital signs, patient interview, and medical history; perform examinations and routine screenings
  • Critically listen and engage with patients throughout appointment, ensuring needs and/or changing in patient conditions are reported to PCP, specialists, and/or other clinical personnel
  • Perform all tasks with a hyper focus on patient experience, including answering of incoming calls and processing of patient phone messages
  • Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures and other first aid procedures; use CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and conduct accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times

Job Summary

Core to the ArchWell Health approach is to have a robust clinical care team focused on the needs of our members. Care teams are responsible for delivering excellent and compassionate primary care and coordinating the care of our members with the broader healthcare delivery system. The Medical Assistant - Internal Float (MA-Float) is a critical role to flexibly support our members and their families from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave the centers. The MA-Float may be asked to serve in front office or direct patient care activities, depending on center and member needs. This role supports the PCP day-to-day and ensure efficiency in the care provided to patients. MAs work closely and collaboratively with their teammates to greet, schedule, and room ArchWell Health members. S/he will be expected to assist in assessing patient's health conditions, including performing routine diagnostic testing during appointments. The MA-Float may be asked to provide coverage outside of their primary center.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Critically listen and engage with patients throughout appointment, ensuring needs and/or changing in patient conditions are reported to PCP, specialists, and/or other clinical personnel
  • Perform all tasks with a hyper focus on patient experience, including answering of incoming calls and processing of patient phone messages, including returning calls; routing calls to other team members as appropriate; and calling patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician
  • Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures and other first aid procedures; use CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and conduct accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
  • Assist with center events, as needed
Required Skills/Abilities

  • Experience with claims/quality reports and analytical software packages
  • Proficient PC Skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and flexibility in a changing work environment
  • Fluency in - languages spoken by our people in the communities we serve (where necessary)
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required
  • Must be bilingual (Spanish) and able to pass formal proficiency exam as part of the selection process
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training (i.e., foreign-trained physician, paramedic, etc.) required
  • A minimum of 1 year work experience as a Medical Assistant preferred, but not required
  • 6+ months phlebotomy experience is highly desired
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers required
  • EClinicalWorks or similar EMR experience
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus
