Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's OptumCare in the Pacific West region is hiring a Medical Assistant in California. You will deliver direct patient care, document vitals and history, and support physicians with routine procedures in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program.
• BLS certification from AHA or willingness to obtain by date of hire.
• 1+ years of experience working as a Medical Assistant.
• Phlebotomy certification (preferred).
• EMR experience (preferred).
• Bilingual English and Spanish (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Delivers high-quality patient care face-to-face, by phone, and electronically for examinations, treatments, monitoring and preparation for tests.
• Collects and documents patient information including vital signs, complaints, medications, allergies, risk screens and benefits status.
• Assists physicians and nursing staff with injections, EKGs, phlebotomy and other patient care procedures.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians, standards and policies.
• Assists with tasks, phone calls and messages; documents all actions.
• Maintains proper EMR and paper documentation for all assessments and procedures.
• Prepares and cleans patient rooms and sets up instruments/equipment per protocol with infection control.
