Job Summary The Medical Assistant is responsible for patient care activities that include but are not limited to obtaining vital signs, gathering pertinent patient information, and assisting nursing and medical staff in performing invasive and non-invasive procedures, such as bone marrow aspirates. Indirect patient care activities include those that support clinic operations such as ordering and stocking clinical supplies and patient education materials, transporting patients and specimens as needed, and monitoring the environment of care. The position requirements include organizational skills with attention to detail, thoroughness, practical decision-making, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork. This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. This position reports to Practice Manager and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational Medical Assistant certification preferred
• Medical Assistant training program required
• One (1) to three (3) years experience as a medical assistant preferred
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
