Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • MA certification (CCMA, CMA, RMA, etc.) preferred or must obtain within 12 months.
  • 1+ year experience as Medical Assistant in healthcare setting preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to document patient information accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in examination and treatment under provider supervision.
  • Handle patient check-in, registration, and chart documentation.
  • Record vital signs and collect specimens for lab analyses.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and ensure supplies are stocked.
  • Support front desk and maintain clean, organized areas.

Manages the check-in and registration process, interview patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' charts. Draws and collects blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Qualifications Required:High School Diploma or equivalentAND1+ years of working experience as a Medical Assistant in a Hospital, Primary Care, Emergency Department, or Urgent Care settingOROne of the following MA certifications at the time of hire (or must obtain within 12 months of hire):CCMA- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (verified through NHA, National Healthcareer Association)CMA - Certified Health Professionals (verified through CHP, Certified Health Professionals)CMA- Certified Medical Assistant (verified through AAMA, American Association of Medical Assistant)CMA - AAH American Allied HealthRMA- Registered Medical Assistant (verified through AMT, American Medical Technologists)NCMA- National Certified Medical Assistant (verified through NCCT, National Center for Competency Testing)NRCMA- Nationally Registered Medical Assistant (verified through the NAHP, National Association for Health Professionals)ARMA - American Registry of Medical AssistantsOROne of the following:Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, LPN or LVN at the time of hire (verified through state license)EMT- Emergency Medical Technician (verified through state certification and/or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians)Paramedic (verified through state certification and/or and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians) Required Licenses/CertificationsCPOE certification required within 2 weeks of hire if MA certification is not obtained at hireBasic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA) Essential FunctionsConduct patient registration, which includes securing required paperwork and insurance documentation, and verification of insurance and patient eligibility.Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments for assigned centers.Coordinate provider referrals to assigned Specialist.Answer patient questions regarding their care and keep them informed of their status.Inform technical staff of patient flow.Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visitPerform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to the provider as needed.Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to providers.Responsible for stocking supplies and maintenance of exam rooms, front desk, and reception area; ensure providers have medical supplies needed.Responsible for completing order sheets to maintain supply inventory levels; regularly checking expiration dates on supplies.Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.Answer phone calls, collect and sort daily incoming and outgoing postal correspondenceEnsure reception is well maintainedConduct courtesy callbacks for patient follow-up.Perform opening and closing duties, which include cashing out, end-of-day communication, and securing the building.Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed.All other duties as assigned.Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities RequiredBasic Medical Assistant dutiesAbility to type quickly, basic computer knowledgeProficient in Microsoft Word and ExcelDetail oriented, able to rely on experience and judgment to perform a variety of tasks, participate on a team, and accomplish goalsExceptional written and verbal communication skillsAble to interact and treat all persons with fairness, respect and sensitivity to cultural/social differenceIf you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us!Note: This job description is not inclusive of all the duties of the position.
