Job summary

Pediatrix Medical Group, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in delivering compassionate patient-centered care. You will perform clinical and administrative duties, greet patients, collect medical histories, and help prepare exam rooms.

You will assist with exams and procedures, handle specimen collection, vaccinations, and venipuncture where allowed by state. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred or as required by State.
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms; obtain medical history, medications, allergies, and chief complaints; document in medical record.
  • Assist with patient flow to ensure timely visits.
  • Support delivery of high-quality patient experience through customer service and communication with patients, families, and care providers; maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist with preparing and conducting medical exams and procedures under physician/APP supervision.
  • Perform applicable medical procedures: collect/prepare laboratory specimens, administer injections/immunizations, venipuncture (as allowed by state).
  • Communicate instructions to patients and ensure understanding.
  • Assist with scheduling tests, treatments, and follow-ups; relay test results to patients.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked; maintain instruments; prepare sterilization as required.
  • Respond to referrals/appointment requests; triage and process messages; maintain patient files.

Job description

The Medical Assistant will support physicians and clinical staff in providing specialized patient care by performing both clinical and administrative duties specific to the practice’s area of focus. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. The Medical Assistant's primary responsibilities may vary based on state regulations.

  • Greet and escort patient to exam room, prepare patient for visits by obtaining medical history, current medications, allergies, and chief complaints and document all information in patient medical record.
  • Assist with patient flow to ensure timely visits.
  • Support delivery of high-quality patient experience through excellent customer service and communication with patients, families and other care providers while ensuring a safe patient care environment.
  • Provide assistance to physician and/or advanced practice provider in preparing and conducting medical exams and office procedures under direct guidance and supervision of physician and advance practice provider. .
  • Perform applicable medical procedures collect, and prepare laboratory specimens, administer injections/immunizations, and perform venipuncture, as allowed by state regulations.
  • Communicate information and instructions to patients as directed by physician, advanced practice provider, or nursing staff and ensure patient’s understanding of the information.
  • Assist with scheduling of tests, treatments, and follow-up appointments, and communicate test results to patients.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required.
  • Respond to calls and requests for referrals and appointments, triage and process messages, and requests from patients, clinic staff, referring physicians and pharmacies. Maintains patient files, records, and other information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred or as required by State
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred

Experience Industry: Healthcare

Experience:

  • 1+ years in an office-based setting preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Superior customer service skills
  • High level of professionalism
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred

Compensation: Pay for position ranges from $20.24 to $32.40 per hour and is based on relevant experience.
