Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide patient care under the supervision of the physician or APP in an ambulatory setting. Location: Deland, FL. Hours: Mon–Thu 8:00 am–5:00 pm; Fri 8:00 am–2:00 pm.

Responsibilities include gathering patient data, assisting with examinations, documenting treatments and education, and communicating with patients and families. Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are preferred; knowledge of the EMR and adherence to Orlando Health policies is

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or at least one year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Medical Assistant in a patient care setting).
• Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
• If hired after Jan 1, 2015, maintains one of the listed MA certifications within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
• Supports and communicates effectively with patients and families.
• Works collaboratively with administrative and operations staff.
• Gathers patient data through interview and observation.
• Assists patients and families with preparation for examination.
• Assists physician or APP during examination and procedures.
• Documents treatments, procedures, and patient education.
• Acts as liaison to schedule specialty testing or consultations.
• Processes calls professionally and uses clinical judgment.
• Enters medication, lab and imaging orders into EMR under provider direction.
• Maintains compliance with Orlando Health policies and infection control standards.
• Maintains regular attendance according to policy.
