Job summary

Schweiger Dermatology Group in Encinitas, CA is seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant - Allergy to support our allergy practice. The Allergy Medical Assistant performs clinical, clerical, and front-desk duties, assisting with allergy testing, skin prick tests, immunotherapy injections, and pre-/post-care while maintaining supplies.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of MA experience, Medical Assistant Certification, CPR/AED, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • CPR and AED Certifications required.
  • Experience with EMR software and scheduling systems preferred.
  • Experience with allergy testing (skin prick, patch, spirometry) preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Open availability to work during office hours.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere for patients and the provider.
  • Know standard operating protocols for the allergy practice and follow them.
  • Assist with allergy procedures including skin tests, immunotherapy injections, and spirometry.
  • Support provider workflow, manage patient records, and communicate with patients.
  • Check equipment, stock supplies, and maintain treatment rooms.
  • Handle payments, scheduling, and inventory tracking as needed.
  • Learn new workflows including Klara paperwork and patient notifications.
  • Maintain HIPAA & OSHA compliance and assist front desk when needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Summary:

Full-Time Medical Assistant - Allergy at our Encinitas Office. The Allergy Medical Assistant is responsible for performing the highest quality of medical, clinical, and clerical tasks in a medical setting. Previous healthcare experience is required. Allergy experience is required.

Schedule:

Full time, 30+ hours. Availability Monday through Friday within operating hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. Open Flexibility to help cover in a team environment is needed.

Medical Assistant - Allergy
  • Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere that enhances the quality of service and care offered to patients and for the respective provider.
  • Have a thorough working knowledge of all standard operating protocols and policies that pertain to the clinical department, specifically within theallergypractice.
  • Have thorough knowledge ofallergytreatments and procedures to appropriately care for the patient’s needs. Proficient in pre-care and post-care treatment instructions forallergytesting and immunotherapy. Fully understand provider to patient flow and anticipate the provider’s next steps.
  • Adapt to the provider’s workflows and support the provider tomaximize quality patient care and efficiency of the practice, including tasks such as scribing,managing patient records, and assisting with patient communication.
  • Check allallergytesting equipment at the beginning of each shift andmaintain all treatment rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Perform inventory responsibilities and stocking ofallergy-related supplies and equipment as requested.
  • Complete all required training and continued education opportunities within the allotted time frame, with a focus onallergycare.
  • Assist the physician inallergyprocedures, including skin prick tests, patch tests, spirometry, and immunotherapy injections. Prep exam rooms for all procedures and properly clean exam rooms after every visit.
  • Properly assist the provider in recording prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, biopsies, cultures, photos, prescriptions, prior authorization, obtaining consents, and procedures within established guidelines.
  • Take payments, book follow-up visits, and track inventory used during visits as needed.
  • Learn and adhere to new workflows including Klara paperwork, patient notifications, and patient messaging.
  • Keep the office clean and remove waste.
  • Assist in covering the front desk or greeter role when the office needs.
  • Working knowledge and application of HIPAA & OSHA compliance.
  • May be asked to do additional tasks for office and patient care as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant required; experience in an allergy practice preferred
  • Medical Assistant Certification required
  • CPR and AED Certifications required.
  • Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems preferred
  • Experience with allergy testing (skin prick, patch, and spirometry) preferred
  • Must be computer savvy and familiar with Outlook
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Excellent patient relations and customer services skills
  • Strong follow up stills and ownership/accountability
  • Must be professional, reliable, and dedicated employee
  • Open availability to work during office and/or scheduled hours
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance
Hourly Pay Range: $23 - $28.75
