Job summary

US Heart and Vascular is seeking a Medical Assistant to join Cardiology Specialists of Acadiana in LaFayette, LA. This full-time, day-shift position supports patient intake, vital signs, history updates, ECGs, and other clinic procedures to ensure smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of accredited certified medical assistant or accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in clinical activities in a medical environment.
  • eCW experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology with concentration in cardiology.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner and escort them to the examination room.
  • Take vital signs and accurately enter results in the patient chart.
  • Review and update medical history with each patient.
  • Accurately complete and update patient medical records.
  • Prepare patients for examination, tests, or procedures.
  • Perform clinic duties to maintain smooth flow of the clinic.
  • Notify physician when patient is ready for examination.
  • Perform ECGs and stress tests according to protocol.
  • Return patient calls within 24 hours.
  • Ensure physicians are notified of all pertinent test results.
  • Refer patients to outside testing and appointments as instructed by the physician.
  • Schedule hospital procedures as prescribed and coordinate with Pre-Cert dept.
  • Direct patients to checkout after visit and perform other duties as needed.

Description

US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Medical Assistant to join our team at Cardiology Specialists of Acadiana in LaFayette, LA.

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner and escorts them to the examination room.
  • Take vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, temperature) and height and weight measurements; accurately enters results in patient's chart.
  • Review and update medical history with each patient.
  • Accurately complete and update patient medical record.
  • Prepare patient for examination, test(s) or procedure(s).
  • Perform clinic duties in efficient manner to maintain smooth flow of clinic.
  • Notify physician when patient is ready for examination.
  • Perform procedures (ex: EKG, stress test, etc.) according to protocol as needed.
  • Return patient calls within 24 hours.
  • Ensure that physician is notified of all pertinent test results.
  • Refer patients to appropriate outside testing and appointments as instructed by the physician.
  • Correctly schedule hospital procedures as prescribed by physician; notify Pre-Cert dept in advance.
  • Direct or escort patient to check-out counter upon completion of the visit.
  • Perform any other services deemed reasonable by physician or supervisor.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of accredited certified medical assistant or accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in performing clinical activities in a medical environment.
  • eCW experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology with concentration in cardiology.
