Job summary

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Medical Assistant I for SoNE HEALTH Medical Group will provide multi-skilled services to the practice. The Medical Assistant I will be responsible for obtaining vital signs, assisting the provider with in-office procedures, and coordinating tasks with other team members. Responsibilities of this role will encompass a wide range of clinical tasks, including patient intake and point of care testing.

This position requires strong computer skills, attention to detail, a positive professional attitude, and the ability to work in a team environment.

This position is in Enfield, CT.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Room and intake patients including taking vitals ie. pulse ox, temp, weight, height, blood pressure, etc & record in EMR, complete intake of appointment details.
  • Complete questionnaires in EMR ie. Depression screening, complaints, allergies, current list of meds/reconcile med list, etc.
  • Give full verbal report of patient’s visit/condition to provider, print any results ie. lab, x ray, etc for the provider to review
  • Clean rooms at end of day & in between patients
  • Report needed supplies for ordering to Office Manager as inventory is used
  • Co-manage Lab with RN, LPN, and/or other staff i.e., rotate stock as orders come in, monitor expiration dates & inventory, keep area tidy & work ready etc.
  • Collaborate with RN, LPN, and/or other staff to run patient's lab tests as needed daily i.e., lead, urine, blood, strep, flu, & RSV tests, etc.
  • Process patient lab draws & prepare cultures/specimen to be sent out for testing i.e., order tests, ensure labels are placed on specimen, follow office & lab protocols & procedures.
  • Assist with performing EKG's & setting up breathing treatments, as requested by Provider.
  • Assist provider with in-office procedures i.e., sutures, suture removal, biopsies, etc., as requested by the Provider.
  • Review upcoming appointments to anticipate needs, supplies, & completeness.
  • Order labs for patients with upcoming appointments and contact patients, as necessary.
  • Monitor EMR in-box daily & return patient calls, and complete other tasks as delegated by Provider.
  • Collaborate with RN, LPN, MA, and/or other staff to stock rooms with needed supplies, inventory, tests, & other necessities on weekly basis
  • Complete physical forms, school medication forms, disability paperwork, & all other clinical documentation & forms as needed for patients.
  • Maintain eyewash station per policies & protocol including testing, cleaning, & reporting.
  • Complete and maintain Stericycle DOT certification for biohazardous waste
  • Cover patient care tasks for LPN/MA’s when out of office or when needed.
  • Assist with clinical support line if available
Other Functions
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
  • CMA or RMA required with vaccine certification preferred
