Northwell-GoHealth Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support urgent care operations in our NYC/Long Island network. You will assist with patient check-in, record vital signs, collect specimens when needed, and aid the provider during examinations.

The role emphasizes accurate documentation, front-d desk responsibilities, and collaboration with care teams to ensure a smooth patient experience in a fast-paced clinic environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred.
  • Phlebotomy and EKG experience preferred.
  • Front desk or registration experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and verify insurance, obtain paperwork.
  • Process co-pays and schedule appointments for centers.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists and inform patients about status.
  • Answer questions and communicate clearly with patients.
  • Prepare patients for examination with vital signs and history clearance.
  • Perform point-of-care testing as needed (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
  • Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms and reception area.
  • Maintain medical records and scan charts to files.
  • Conduct opening/closing duties and secure the building.

Manages the check-in and registration process, interview patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' charts. May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
