Job summary

US Heart & Vascular in Wichita, KS seeks a full-time Medical Assistant to support Heartland Cardiology in a busy outpatient setting. You will greet patients and families, perform venipuncture, take vital signs, assist with procedures, record medications, and schedule TeleMed visits.

You’ll also perform EKGs, process referrals, and keep exam rooms clean and stocked, ensuring smooth patient flow throughout the day.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
• 1-year medical office experience required.
• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet outpatients, visitors and families and direct them to waiting areas, exam rooms and ancillary departments.
• Perform venipuncture and finger sticks on lab patients as trained.
• Assist with scheduling TeleMed or Doxyme appointments and provide patient instruction.
• Assist physician and staff with procedures (vital signs, weight, positioning, etc.).
• Review medications with patients and document in computer.
• Perform EKGs as ordered by physician and document results.
• Obtain and document patient information per clinic protocol.
• Arrange referrals with nurse guidance and ensure proper documentation.
• Sanitize and clean exam rooms after each patient and at end of day.

US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Full-Time Medical Assistant to join our team at Heartland Cardiology in Wichita, KS.Responsibilities:Greet and direct outpatients, visitors, and families in a pleasant and caring manner to waiting areas, exam rooms and ancillary departments.Perform venipuncture (if trained) and finger sticks on lab patients for processing.Assist with scheduling of TeleMed or Doxyme appointments and provide patient instruction.Assist Clinic physician and/or physician’s staff with any procedures (i.e., vital signs, weight, positioning, disrobing, etc.).Review current medications with patients and document in computer.Communicate any physician delays to patient and monitor patient until physician enters exam room.Perform EKG on patients as ordered by physician.Obtain and document patient information as per clinic physician’s protocol.Know incoming physician schedules to organize appointments and issue appropriate memos regarding incoming physician visits.Keep clinic staff informed of pertinent information regarding patients.Clean the exam room after each patient and sanitize exam room at the end of each day.Make referrals for providers as requested, with help and guidance from the provider’s nurse.
