Job summary

Baystate Health in Westfield, MA is seeking full-time Medical Assistants to join our care teams. You will take vital signs, handle patient intake and history, manage clinical orders, assist with procedures, and document patient discharge.

Our teams include Urgent Care and Cardiology, with schedules Tue/Thu/Fri and weekends in Urgent Care, plus standard hours in Cardiology. We offer a sign-on bonus, strong compensation, robust health/dental/vision coverage, generous PTO up to 25 days, CE support,

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • CPR-BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required.
  • MA program completion or demonstrated MA I/II/III/IV competencies as evaluated by hiring manager.
  • Credentialing must be through a recognized credentialing body (ARMA/AMT/CCMA/NCCT/AAMA).

Responsibilities

  • Take vital signs, patient intake and history, and document visits.
  • Process clinical orders and assist with procedures and patient discharge.
  • Assist in visits for specific service lines as needed, including preparation and setup.

Education

High School diploma or GED
MA program graduate or MA I competency
MA II competency with 3 years MA experience
MA III/MA IV with 5 years Baystate experience or demonstrated competency
Registered/certified by ARMA/AMT/CCMA/NCCT/AAMA

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Baystate Health, Medical Assistants perform an important role providing care to our patients. They take vital signs, perform patient intake and history, clinical orders, procedures, documentation and patient discharge. Our supportive work environment allows you to provide optimal patient care.

LOCATION/SCHEDULE:
  • Urgent Care - T, Th, Fri and every other weekend
  • Cardiology - M-Fri 9-5:30pm

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • CPR-Basic Life Support of Healthcare Provider required from the American Heart Association required MAI - Graduate of an accredited MA program preferred OR demonstrated competencies of MA I (evaluated by hiring manager) with minimum 1 year experience in a medical office.
  • MAII - Graduate of an accredited MA program OR demonstrated competencies of MA II (evaluated by hiring manager for level hiring for) with minimum 3 years’ current relevant medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting.
  • MAIII - Graduate of an accredited MA program with a minimum of 5 years’ current relevant medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting preferred OR demonstrated competencies of MA III (evaluated by hiring manager) with a minimum of 5 years’ current relevant medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting OR minimum of two years as an MA II at a Baystate Health with demonstrated competencies of MA III.
  • MAIV - (Internal career ladder) Minimum of two years as an MA III at Baystate Health with demonstrated competencies for promotion to MA IV.
  • Graduate of an accredited MA program and registered/certified by a third-party credential body. Credentialing must be awarded by a third-party credentialing body which can be obtained through: 1. Registered through Medical Assistant (ARMA) - (Minimum Requirement); 2. Registered through American Medical Technologist (AMT) association; or 3. Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association (NHA); or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or 4. Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
Practice Specific:

In some specific service lines, the incumbent may have to:

  • Assist in visits and procedures for patients seeking abortion services or services for pregnancy loss, such as collecting supplies, printing consents, organizing instruments and medications, and/or assisting during the insertion of cervical dilators for surgical abortion procedures.
  • Assist provider with pelvic and breast exams for all patients.
  • Assist with cervical cytology screening and filling out appropriate forms
  • Assist with in-office surgical procedures such as miscarriage management, biopsies, colposcopy, and LEEP procedures of the cervix.
  • Assists with transgender and non-binary patients seeking gender-affirming therapy and/or surgery

Compensation Note:

The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum $20.79 - $26.28 - $34.33
