Job summary

Forefront Dermatology is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our dermatology team in West Virginia. You will accompany the dermatologist in the room, room patients, and promote a friendly, efficient environment for patients and staff.

The role includes scribing, post-op wound care, blood draws, and assisting with derm procedures. Candidates should have CMA/LPN/RN credentials and be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed; strong computer and teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Post-high-school education in a medical support field is required (CMA/LPN/RN).
• Non-certified Medical Assistants may need Forefront Derm Tech certification within prescribed time and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and document all vital information.
• Scribe information for the dermatologist.
• Provide post-op wound care to patients.
• Draw blood and perform suture removal.
• Clean and stock exam rooms.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Assist dermatologist with procedures such as biopsies, Mohs surgery, injections, and related derm procedures.

• Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery

• Dermabrasion
• Patch testing
• Blue light

Qualifications

Education

Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
• Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
• Must possess organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
