Qualifications

  • 1+ year of orthopedic experience.
  • Clear criminal background and child abuse clearances required.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, obtain vitals, document histories, and assist with provider exams.
  • Support providers in in-office procedures, wound care, and post-operative follow-up.
  • Manage X-ray orders and assist with pre-charting to ensure readiness for each visit.
  • Review test results, refill requests, and imaging reports and prepare them for provider attention.
  • Participate in Epic inboxes and shared clinical pools to maintain timely patient communication.
  • Support continuity of care across the full provider team, floating as needed to maintain flow.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked, and well-organized work environment and assist with supply inventory.
  • Demonstrate a team-oriented mindset, assisting coworkers proactively and flexing roles as needed.
  • Uphold values of kindness, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a key role in delivering high-quality orthopedic care by supporting the clinical team and all providers in a shared, collaborative environment. This position requires flexibility, initiative, and a strong commitment to patient service. MAs are part of a clinic-wide support model—not assigned to a single provider—and help ensure efficient clinic flow, clear communication, and a positive patient experience.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Certification as a Registered or Certified MA is preferred; however, candidates actively enrolled in a certification program or willing to obtain certification may also be considered.
  • CPR certification (active and current).
  • 1+ year of orthopedic experience.
  • Clear criminal background and child abuse clearances (required for all Berks Ortho employees).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a Registered or Certified MA (or willingness to obtain).
  • Prior experience using Epic EMR.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Physical & Schedule Expectations
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods; lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Part-time and full-time roles available.
  • No weekend shifts required; some evening shifts (e.g., ending by 7:30 PM) may be available for employees who opt in
