Job summary

Vista Community Clinic (VCC) in Vista, California, is seeking a Clinical Medical Assistant to support physicians and nurses by taking vitals, assisting in examinations, and providing translation services. The role includes phlebotomy-related tasks and patient education.

  • Phlebotomy experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination and assist providers with the examination and/or procedure
  • Take vital signs, height and weight of patients; plot growth charts; administer immunizations
  • Perform laboratory and screening tests customarily performed in a medical office such as visual acuity, audiometric screening, Snellen tests, spirometry tests and EKGs
  • Give counseling, care and follow‑up instructions, health education and materials to patients as instructed by provider

Responsibilities

Monday - Thursday 3:00pm - 7:00pm and Saturdays 8:30 - 4:30pm

Supports physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and/or nurses by taking vitals, assisting in medical examinations and other specific procedures, and providing translation services.

  • Prepare patients for examination and assist providers with the examination and/or procedure
  • Take vital signs, height and weight of patients; plot growth charts; administer immunizations
  • Perform laboratory and screening tests customarily performed in a medical office such as visual acuity, audiometric screening, Snellen tests, spirometry tests and EKGs
  • Give counseling, care and follow‑up instructions, health education and materials to patients as instructed by provider
Qualifications
Minimum
  • High school graduate or equivalent

Preferred
  • Minimum one year back office experience in a clinical environment
  • Phlebotomy certification
Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Good knowledge of general back office procedures, such as taking vitals, performing venipuncture, administering immunizations, etc
  • Good comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology in English and Spanish
  • Emergency response capability for possible crisis situations
  • Experience/familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel), business e‑mail communication systems and internet search capabilities
Pay Range
  • $23.00 - $25.00 Depending On Experience
