Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to patients.
- Provides care to patients as instructed in accordance with established procedures.
- Escorts patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measures vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse ox, temperature, and documents all information given into patient’s chart.
- Obtains all related reports, labs, information and files in patients’ medical records in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked with adequate medical supplies and cleaning in accordance with practice standards.
- Performs required checks (ex: refrigerator temperature, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.).
- Schedules and verifies appointments for patients including verification of insurance.
- Records all necessary patients, guarantor, and financial information as the patient is being registered.
- Gathers all proper forms and obtain necessary signatures.
- Maintain all logs, charts and appointments books.
- Checks expiration dates on all stored medications, vaccines, and supplies on a weekly basis.
- Updates laboratory and x-ray logs daily.
- May perform specialized procedures such as blood draws, EKGs.
- Maintains patients charts and logs and provides secretarial support as well as assisting with registration if needed.
- Travel to other locations may be required as needed.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
1-3 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses / Certifications:
Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred.
Other:
