Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or on pre-med/pre-PA track.
• High school degree or GED.
• 3+ years preferred in dermatology or plastic surgery practice.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and assist providers during examinations and procedures.
• Transcribe EMR notes during patient examination.
• Collect, record and prepare laboratory specimens for sending out.
• Perform basic wound care, sutures removal and dressing changes.
• Organize exam rooms and stock supplies as needed.
• Authorize prescriptions refills and complete prior authorizations.
• Sterilize medical and surgical instruments.
• Set up examination rooms following sterilization protocols.
• Provide post-procedure care instructions to patients.
• Photograph and document patient images in EMR.
• Greet patients professionally and maintain courteous communication by phone or in person.
• Assist in promoting cosmetic procedures and products sold.

Join a state-of-the art, upscale medical and cosmetic dermatology practice in the heart of east Fort Lauderdale, looking to hire a Medical Assistant to become part of our team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a dermatology practice and demonstrate excellent patient interactions.

We are looking for someone professional, reliable, compassionate and friendly to work alongside our board-certified dermatologists and provide our patients with the best care in South Florida.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Preparing patients to be seen and working directly with healthcare providers to assist as needed with all medical and cosmetic procedures during the examination.
• Transcription of EMR notes during patient examination
• Collecting, recording and preparing laboratory specimens to be sent out
• Basic wound care, suture removal and dressing changes
• Organizing/stocking exam rooms and ordering supplies as needed
• Authorizing prescription refills as directed and completing prior authorizations
• Sterilization of medical and surgical instruments
• Turnover and set-up of examination rooms in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established by the practice
• Providing patients with post procedure care and treatment plan instructions
• Photographing and recording patient images into EMR
• Properly greeting each patient with a professional and pleasant attitude
• Effectively communicate with patients when they make inquiries, whether by phone or in person at the office.
• Working in a team effort to promote cosmetic procedures and products sold

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or on pre-med/pre-PA track
• High school degree or GED
• Previous experience in a dermatology or plastic surgery practice recommended (3+ years)
• Pleasant personality, respect, and patience are required
• Dedicated, enthusiastic and organized work ethic
• Ability to maintain proper, courteous, and professional telephone and in person etiquette
• Organized, self-motivated, and attentive to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and accurately prioritize problems & initiatives
• Ability to take patient vital signs
• Phlebotomy not required but recommended
• Experience with Modernizing Medicine (EMA) software recommended
• Attendance and punctuality required

Physical Requirements

The role may require from time to time to lift light to moderate amounts of weight (e.g., boxes of medical/facility supplies), doing repetitive tasks with few breaks, and light cleaning.
