Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) is seeking a Medical Assistant to support nursing staff and the department in providing high‑quality patient care. The role involves clerical duties, scheduling, patient hygiene, mobility assistance, transportation, vital signs, charting, supplies, and stocking patient areas.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a Medical Assistant training course; externship experience and two years of related work are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent) and completion of a Medical Assistant training course at a vocational/technical school.
• Externship completion and 2+ years of job-related experience preferred.
• No certification/license required as per job posting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care under the direction of the department manager and clinical nurses.
• Schedule patients, assist with patient hygiene/toileting and mobility.
• Provide interdepartmental transportation, take vital signs, chart and order supplies.
• Clean and stock patient areas and conduct chart audits.
• Interact with all areas of the department.

How You'll Make An Impact

The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing the delegated nursing functions under the direction of the department manager and clinical nurses. This position is responsible for assisting with direct patient care and clerical duties that are an essential function in the coordination of optimal patient care, including, but not limited to scheduling patients, patient hygiene/toileting, mobility assistance, interdepartmental transportation, vital signs, charting, ordering supplies, cleaning and stocking patient areas, chart audits and interaction with all areas of the department.

Required Education

High school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of a Medical Assistant training course at a vocational/technical school.
