Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for physician evaluation.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medications, and chief complaints.
  • Accurately document patient encounters within the EMR/EHR.
  • Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, and ultrasound-guided injections.
  • Apply and dispense braces, splints, and casts after training.
  • Prepare examination rooms and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment.
  • Coordinate patient care with physicians and administrative staff.
  • Ensure documentation supports coding and billing requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA.

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a full‑time Medical Assistant to join our growing clinical team. This position requires travel to all Long Island office locations as business needs dictate, and reliable personal transportation is required. As a Medical Assistant, you will work closely with our orthopedic physicians and clinical staff to provide exceptional patient care throughout the office visit, assist with clinical procedures, maintain accurate medical records, and help ensure an efficient patient flow. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, flexible, and thrives in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for physician evaluation.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medications, and chief complaints.
  • Accurately document patient encounters within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, and ultrasound‑guided injections.
  • Apply and dispense braces, splints, and casts after appropriate training.
  • Prepare examination rooms and maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
  • Manage clinical supplies and organize inventory shipments.
  • Coordinate patient care with physicians, medical assistants, and administrative staff.
  • Ensure accurate documentation to support coding and billing requirements.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while creating a welcoming experience for every patient.
  • Perform additional clinical and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Previous Medical Assistant experience, preferably in an orthopedic or specialty practice.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Friendly, professional demeanor with a strong commitment to patient satisfaction.
  • Bilingual candidates (Spanish or Russian) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Requirements
  • Full‑time availability.
  • Ability to travel to all Total Orthopedics Long Island office locations as needed.
  • Reliable personal transportation.
  • Willingness to work one weekend shift per month on a rotating schedule.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented clinical environment.
  • Pay: $19.00 – $22.00 per hour.
