Job summary

ChenMed is hiring a Medical Assistant to support a ChenMed physician by scheduling appointments, maintaining records, billing, and preparing patients for examinations. You will record vital signs and histories, assist with injections, and ensure patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or MA training, CPR certification, and EMR familiarity. Prior MA experience, especially with geriatric patients, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to patients and ChenMed staff.

• Prepare examination rooms and assist physicians.
• Interview patients and measure vital signs.
• Authorize medication refills and provide prescription information.
• Sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
• Assist during examinations and handle injections or sutures.
• Collect lab specimens and prepare them for testing.
• Dispense medications using ChenMed Rx system and ensure accuracy.
• Explain procedures, medications, and instructions to patients.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Medical Assistant will perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of ChenMed physician, by scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding for insurance purposes. Other duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination and administering medications as directed by physician.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide extraordinary customer service to all internal and external customers (including patients and other ChenMed team members) at all times.
• Record patients’ medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
• Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
• Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare patients for the physician.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians’ instructions to patients.

Other responsibilities may include:

• Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing the physician instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
• Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
• Authorized individuals will use the ChenMed Rx system to dispense patient medication(s).
• Ensure accuracy of medications provided to patients.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required. Graduate from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR equivalent healthcare preparation (i.e. foreign-trained physician, paramedic, etc.) is required.
• One (1) year Medical Assistant or similar work experience in corresponding setting is preferred. Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus. EMR system experience is preferred.
• CPR for Healthcare Providers is required.
  

PAY RANGE:

$17.0 - $24.26 Hourly

The posted pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for this position. Final compensation will depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, geographic location, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for a bonuses or commissions.
