Job summary

Piedmont Urgent Care is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced clinical team. You will help prepare patients, perform triage, document histories in the EMR, collect specimens, and assist with procedures to support efficient patient care.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to HIPAA/OSHA, and opportunities for professional growth including certification reimbursement and schedule stability in a full-time, day-shift setting.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience, urgent care or ER a plus.
• Proficiency in venipuncture, injections and clinical procedures.
• Experience using EMR software; EPIC preferred.
• Able to work 12-hour shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Willingness to travel to other Piedmont Urgent Care locations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and treatments.
• Perform triage and take vital signs.
• Document patient history in EMR in a timely manner.
• Collect routine lab specimens.
• Administer medications and injections.
• Start IVs and place catheters when necessary.
• Perform basic clinical and laboratory procedures.
• Support Occupational Medicine services per protocols.
• Ensure HIPAA and OSHA compliance.
• Handle office procedures and administrative tasks.
• Oversee quality assurance and CLIA-waived requirements.
• Travel to other Piedmont Urgent Care locations as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Preparation: Assist with preparing patients for examinations and treatments, ensuring they are comfortable and well‑informed.
• Triage & Vital Signs: Perform triage and take vital signs accurately.
• Documenting Patient History: Obtain and document detailed patient history in our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in a timely manner.
• Lab Specimens: Collect routine laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and oral swabs.
• Medication & Injections: Administer medications and non‑intravenous injections, including intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections.
• Clinical Procedures: Start IVs, place catheters, and perform splinting when necessary.
• Clinical & Laboratory Procedures: Perform basic clinical, aseptic, and laboratory procedures to support patient care.
• Occupational Medicine: Assist with our Occupational Medicine services, including drug screening, breath alcohol testing, audiograms, and pulmonary function testing, while adhering to company protocols.
• Compliance: Enforce and maintain healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and OSHA compliance.
• Administrative Duties: Perform office procedures and general administrative tasks; proficiently operate office medical equipment.
• Quality Assurance: Oversee compliance with quality assurance programs, CLIA waived laboratory requirements, and patient result trackers.

• Travel Requirement: Support staffing and operational needs by traveling to other Piedmont Urgent Care locations as required.

Required Qualifications:

• Education & Certification: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Experience: 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant (urgent care or ER a plus)
• Skills: Proficiency in venipuncture, injections, and clinical procedures
• Technical Skills: Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software, EPIC preferred
