Job summary

Montgomery County Language Minority in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a bilingual Medical Assistant to support patient flow, prepare exam rooms, collect vitals, and perform urinalyses as directed.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
• Strong computer skills are required.
• EMR experience (2 years); eCW is a plus.
• Vital Signs experience (2 years) preferred.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant program completion with MA certificate required.
• CPR certification required; background check will be performed.

Responsibilities

• Prepares exam rooms daily with stocked supplies.
• Escorts patients to exam rooms and records vital signs; conducts urinalysis as needed.
• Assists with administrative duties to maintain clinic flow.
• Protects patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Disposes bio-hazardous waste per policy.
• Cleans and sanitizes treatment rooms after visits.
• Frees required documentation to EMR (labs, reports).
• Acts as EKG technician when needed by physicians or supervisor.
• Translates between English and Spanish as needed.
• Performs other office duties as assigned.

Job Functions:

1. Prepares exam rooms in the clinical area for patient care daily, including stocking of all necessary supplies.

2. Escorts patients to exam rooms, taking the required vital signs and obtaining urine specimens; performing dip and automated urinalysis and microscopic preparation and review when indicated.

3. Assists on administrative duties as needed to ensure the clinic’s healthy flow.

4. Protects patients’ confidentiality to ensure the clinic’s compliance with the HIPAA regulations.

5. Adheres to bio-hazardous or “red bag” waste policy and procedure for proper disposal of medical waste.

6. Cleans and sanitizes treatment rooms following patient examinations.

7. Makes sure that all support documentation required for the medical visit such as labs, doctor or radiology reports are properly filed on patients’ EMR.

8. Acts as EKG technician when is required by the physicians, immediate supervisor, or the Clinic’s Manager.

9. Translates from English to Spanish and vice versa as needed.

10. Perform other office duties as assigned by manager.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE OR LICENSURE/REGISTRATION

1. High School Diploma or equivalent

2. Satisfactory completion of Medical Assistant program. Support documents required. MA certificate

3. CPR certification

4. Background check will be performed.
