Job summary

UNITED MEDICAL DOCTORS in La Jolla, CA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support ambulatory clinic operations. Responsibilities

• Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information in medical records.

• Operate diagnostic equipment such as x-ray or EKG for routine tests.

• Maintain instrument sterilization and proper disposal of contaminated supplies.
• Help physicians examine and treat patients, including injections or sutures.
• Safeguard patient information and medical records, ensuring confidentiality.

• Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean
• Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing
• Operate x-ray, electrocardiogram (EKG), or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients
• Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms
• Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies
• Maintain inventory of test kits and order supplies for kits when necessary
• Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures
• Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential
• Greet and check-in patients arriving at office or clinic
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Possess an ability to function in a high stress, physically demanding setting
• Knowledge of health care regulations and preventative measures (HIPAA confidentiality, infection spread, etc.)
• Exemplary customer service experience including client relationships and job knowledge
