Job summary

Forefront Dermatology is seeking a Medical Assistant to support dermatology physicians in a fast-paced clinic. You will room patients, document vitals, scribe for the dermatologist, and assist with procedures including biopsies and Mohs surgery.

The role requires 1+ year experience in a medical office, CMA/LPN/RN with Forefront Derm Tech certification pathway for non-certified assistants, and ability to travel between locations as needed. Strong computer and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a medical office preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant or equivalent certification required
• Dermatology experience is a plus
• Must maintain state certifications and registrations
• Willingness to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficient with EMR systems and computer tools

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and documenting vital information
• Scribing for the dermatologist
• Provide post-operative wound care
• Draw blood and suture removal
• Stock and clean exam rooms
• Schedule patient appointments
• Assist dermatologist with procedures (biopsies, excisions, Mohs, injections)
• Capture surgical photographs when needed

The Medical Assistant is essential during the patient visit, accompanying the dermatologist in the room and promoting a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists.

Schedule: 40 hours per week

Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Friday, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Rooming patients and documents all vital information
• Scribing information for the dermatologist
• Providing post op wound care to patients
• Drawing blood and suture removal
• Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms
• Scheduling patient appointments

Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:

• Surgical photographs
• Biopsies – punch, DIF and shave
• Excisions
• Electrodessication and curettage
• I&D
• Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery
• Phototherapy
• Injections
• Koh preps
• Trichograms
• Tzank preps
• Dermabrasion
• Patch testing
• Blue light

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
• Prefer Dermatology experience
• Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
• Must possess organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
