Humana Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant 2 in Saint Petersburg, FL. This patient-facing role combines clinical tasks with administrative duties, including vital signs, vaccination support, phlebotomy, and EMR documentation.

You will work closely with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to deliver high-quality, value-based care while following established policies and procedures. Responsibilities include medication administration, vaccine administration, and TB screening participation.

Qualifications

• Completed MA program or CMA/RMA certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR Certification.
• Bilingual English/Spanish (proficiency exam required).

Responsabilités

• Serve as the first point of contact for patient care and perform administrative tasks.
• Discuss symptoms with patients, obtain vital signs, and assist with vaccines and medications.
• Administer medications and vaccines; perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
• Document information in the electronic medical records system.
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers to support care delivery.

Become a part of our caring community The Medical Assistant 2 is the first point of contact for patient care. Responsible for administrative tasks in addition to patient care. The Medical Assistant 2 performs varied activities and moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer support assignments. Typically work on semi-routine assignments. The Medical Assistant 2 performs clinical tasks such as discussing symptoms and obtaining vital signs. The Medical Assistant 2 also administers medications and vaccines, performs phlebotomy, and collects specimens. Additionally, the Medical Assistant 2 performs diagnostic screening tests, sterilizes and cleans equipment, and maintains examination rooms. Finally, the Medical Assistant 2 documents information into the electronic medical records system. Collaborate closely with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers. Deliver direct patient care dependent on what active certification allows. Decisions typically focus on interpretation of area/department policy and methods for completing assignments. Work within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards, but has latitude over prioritization/timing, and works under minimal direction. Follow standard policies and procedures that allow opportunity for interpretation/deviation and/or independent discretion. Use your skills to make an impact

Requirements

• Successful completion of MA school/training program or a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of experience and approval from Provider
• High school diploma or equivalent
• CPR Certified
• This role is considered patient facing and is part of the company's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program.
• If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB
• Preferred Certified or Registered – (Arizona, Indiana, & South Carolina candidates require Medical Assistant Certification or Registration)
• Phlebotomy experience
• Medication/vaccine administration experience 1+ years MA experience
• Value Based Care experience including knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish - must pass proficiency exam prior to foreign language communication

Pay

$43,000 - $56,200 per year This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
