Job summary

Cooper Norcross Health in Camden, NJ is seeking a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant to support patient intake, vital signs, EKGs, and care coordination in a hospital/clinic setting.

Responsibilities include exam-room setup, phlebotomy, medication reconciliation, and assisting providers with minor procedures. Requires HS diploma; CMA and BLS preferred. Salary: $18–$29 per hour. On-site position at a major regional health system.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience is preferred for medical assistant or nursing assistant in hospital or clinic setting
• Phlebotomy experience required
• Performance of EKG required
• BLS Certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Set up patient in the exam room
• Take vital signs (manual BPs) and document them
• Perform EKGs and reconcile medications
• Discuss changes in health since last visit with patient
• Assist provider with minor surgical procedures
• Prepare medications for injections
• Handle phone messages, faxes and medical reception tasks as needed

Short Description

• Responsible for setting up the patient in the exam room
• Perform and Document:
  • Vital signs (manual BPs),

  • Reason for visit, health care concern
• Interview/Discuss with patient changes in patient’s health since last visit
• Assist the provider with minor surgical procedures
• Prepare appropriate medications for injections
• Responsible for phone messages, faxes, and Medical Reception responsibilities as needed

Experience Required

• 3 years’ experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience required.
• Performance of EKG required.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required
• Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.

License/Certification Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant
• BLS Certification
