Job Title: Medical Assistant

Supervisor: Clinical Supervisor

Must be willing to travel to other office locations.

General Summary of Duties

Under direct supervision, the Medical Assistant works interdependently with other healthcare professionals to provide quality healthcare to the patient. The Medical Assistant is educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in the medical care environment. The Medical Assistant must be flexible and able to cover all nonmanagerial aspects of the clinic but able to spot problems and recommend solutions to management.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical
  • Main Activities:
    • Ability to room patients following each individual provider policy
    • Ability to enter electronic lab orders and manage EMRs
    • Ability to process prescription refills
    • Ability to enter charges
    • Ability to accurately complete encounter notes
    • Answer and return calls in a timely manner
    • Ability to complete tasks on time
    • Ability to resolve patient-related issues that arise
  • Administrative
  • Main Activities:
    • Ability to request records, scan records, and process patient referrals
    • Accurately enter patient information in the EMR
  • Scheduling
  • Main Activities:
    • Ability to schedule, reschedule, cancel, no-shows, block templates, and scrub provider schedules for errors
    • Ability to provide detailed instructions for scheduled test
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

Must be a graduate of a vocational or technical college in medical assisting.

CPR certification must be acquired within 6 months of appointment.

Physical/Mental Demands

The Medical Assistant will spend long hours sitting, walking, standing, and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain. The role also involves varied activities such as stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and crouching. Requires eye-hand coordination, finger dexterity, talking, hearing, and specific vision abilities including depth perception, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Occasional lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds.
