Job summary

Appledore Family Medicine in Portsmouth, NH is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical expertise and ensure high-quality, efficient patient care. Monday to Friday days, no nights, no on-call, and no weekends.

You will prepare patients, set up exam rooms, assist with injections, lab work, and minor procedures, and support physicians in patient care activities. Certification is required or must be obtained within 60 days of employment.

Qualifications

• One year of Medical Assisting or other direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
• Medical Assistant Certification required or must obtain within 60 days of employment.
• If uncertified, certification must be obtained within one year of hire date.
• Ability to prepare patients for examination and assist with minor procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination by taking histories and vital signs.
• Prepare exam rooms with instruments and maintain supplies and sterilization.
• Perform injections and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy.
• Support physicians in minor surgeries and physicals.
• Answer practice calls and screen for referrals.

What you will do in this role:

You will prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs

You will prepare exam and treatment rooms with the necessary instruments for your patients including preparation and maintenance of supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization

You will give injections andassistwith lab testing and phlebotomy

You willassistphysicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals

You will answer telephone calls to the practice and screens for referral

What Qualifications you will need:

EXPERIENCE:

One year of Medical Assisting or other direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: 3 ways to qualify

Medical AssistantCertificationisrequired. Acceptable certifications are RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, NRCMA certification, or ABR-OE credentials is acceptableOR

Medical Assistants who recently graduated (within the last 12 months) from a Medical Assisting training program must obtain Medical Assistant certification within60 daysof employment.OR

Candidates/incumbents with one year of Medical Assistant work experience who do notpossessMedical Assistant Certification must obtain Medical Assistant Certification within one year of hire date.
