Job summary

Shriners Children’s invites qualified Medical Assistants to join our outpatient clinics across the U.S. and international locations. The MA will support clinic operations, perform patient rooming, document visits, assist with minor procedures, manage supplies, and support Telehealth as needed.

Required qualifications include a High School Diploma/GED and BLS; preferred credentials include an Associate Degree and EMR experience. Compensation is determined by experience and equity.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Associate degree and/or RMA/CCMA/NCMA certification preferred.
  • Experience with EMR systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs direct patient care per current clinic standards.
  • Documents interventions and maintains care plans.
  • Obtains patient history and vital signs.
  • Prepares and maintains exam and treatment areas.
  • Obtains and graphs weight, height, arm span, and head circumference as required.
  • Lab work completed the same day ordered.
  • Assists with monitoring supplies and equipment; notifies when new equipment is needed.
  • Applies non-corrective casts per physician direction; removes casts and instructs family on skin care.

Job Description The Medical Assistant (MA) will support and facilitate clinic operations by performing clinical, clerical, and technical duties, including patient rooming, documentation during visits, assisting with minor procedures, managing supplies, supporting Telehealth services when applicable, and flexing to administrative support when needed. This role requires strong communication skills, clinical competence, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to ensure an optimal care experience for patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs all aspects of direct patient care according to current Outpatient Clinic \"Standards of Care.\"
  • Documents interventions per policy and lists plan consistently
  • Obtains patient history and vital signs
  • Prepares and maintains exam and treatment areas
  • Obtains and graphs patient's weight, height, arm span, and head circumference according to Outpatient Clinic \"Growth Chart Graphing (Plotting)\"
  • Lab work completed the same day ordered
  • Assists with monitoring supplies and equipment with PCA/cast tech.
  • Maintains equipment and notifies supervisor/manager when new equipment is needed
  • Applying non-corrective casts at physician's direction
  • Safely removing casts, cleans patient, covers affected limb and instructs family on skin care
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED Certified Medical Assistant
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate Degree RMA, CCMA, NCMA 1 year Pediatric/Ambulatory Care EMR Systems

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
