Job summary

Compass Oncology is seeking a Medical Assistant to float across the Oregon clinics, supporting physicians and clinicians with patient care. You will help room patients, take vitals, and handle communications on behalf of the provider in a fast-paced oncology setting.

The role requires 1–3 years of experience and CPR certification, with occasional phlebotomy duties. Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, on-site at East Cancer Center in Clackamas, OR.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms and treatment areas.
  • Record vital signs and patient data prior to physician visits.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administer injections as directed and maintain disinfection protocols.
  • Answer phones, schedule tests, and manage basic clerical tasks.

Compass Oncology, the largest multi-specialty medical oncology practice in the Pacific Northwest, is looking for a Medical Assistant who will float between our Oregon clinic's. Working as part of our Oncology team that is on the cutting edge of cancer care and treatment, our Medical Assistants play a crucial role in the daily patient flow, assisting a specific Physician/APP. Assisting with rooming patients, taking vitals, and communications on behalf of the provider, our MA's play a crucial role in the Cancer Care Continuum. An energetic individual with Oncology or Specialty experience will find the most success in this role.

Employment Type: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday-Friday

Location: East Cancer Center (Clackamas, OR)

$21.09-$35.65 Per Hour

Job Scope: Under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care (i.e. exams, and procedures). Performs clinic support tasks including miscellaneous clerical tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physician's schedule. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, including but not limited to, hormones and biological growth factors.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
  • Schedules patient tests, procedures and hospital admissions and schedules appointments to follow-upon test results, as applicable.
  • Obtains new patient records and previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.
Qualifications
Education
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • Current CPR certification required.
Experience/Training
  • Minimum (1-3) years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant, preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.
