Job summary

Optum is hiring a Medical Assistant at Summit Rheumatology Clinic in Olympia, WA. The role supports providers with clinical and clerical tasks to deliver safe, quality patient care.

You will greet patients, collect data, assist during exams, manage labs and prescriptions, and help coordinate referrals. A certified MA with CPR/BLS and MS Outlook proficiency is required; EMR/ECW experience preferred. The schedule is Mon-Thu, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM, with a three-day weekend.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.
• Current MA Certification.
• BLS/CPR required upon hire.
• Proficiency with MS Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients at the front desk and manage check-in.
• Collect patient assessment data including vital signs, chief complaint, and medications.
• Prepare patients for provider evaluation and assist during exams and procedures.
• Maintain clean work area, exam treatment area, and lab; restock supplies.
• Assist with lab procedures, collect specimens, and label for reference lab.
• Document patient information in the medical record and update treatment procedures.
• Process scripts, referrals, and authorizations as needed.
• Manage patient flow, answer phones, and optimize appointment efficiency.
• Schedule injections and infusions; manage inventory and supplies.
• Perform diagnostic testing procedures.

The Medical Assistant position is responsible for coordinating and assisting the provider to ensure safe quality/cost-effective service and care for the people within the practice population. This position will also be responsible for providing technical clinical services and clerical support for the delivery of quality patient care as directed by licensed staff, a physician, or a mid-level practitioner.

Location: Summit Rheumatology Clinic,1212 Harrison Ave. NW, Olympia, WA 98502

Schedule: Monday - Thursday | 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM - Enjoy a three-day weekend every week!

Primary Responsibilities

• Working the front desk to be the first friend face to greet patients
• Collects patient assessment data to include height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint/symptoms, and current medications for assessment by licensed staff
• Prepares the patient for provider evaluation by obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, listing medications, and assisting during exams and procedures
• Maintains work area, exam treatment, and lab in a clean, safe manner; restock with supplies as needed
• Assists with lab procedures by collecting urine specimens, collecting, and preparing blood samples for reference lab; labeling all specimens with accurate patient ID as ordered by the physician
• Documents patient information in the medical record to include updated treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns, etc.
• Assists and processes all scripts, referrals, and authorizations as needed
• Manages flow of patient care, while ensuring phones are being answered, and appointments are as efficient as possible
• Schedules patients for injections and infusions
• Orders supplies and medications. Check both into and out of inventory
• Performs diagnostic testing procedures

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $22 to $30 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
