Job summary

Job Description

We have multiple locations in the Metro Detroit area. Our main office is located in Troy, MI. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being around others and enjoys multi‑tasking. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for a variety of medical and administrative tasks. The role requires excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, a customer‑service orientation, and a self‑motivated, well‑organized, team‑player attitude with experience using EMR systems.

Essential Position Functions And Duties
  • Perform all duties necessary to assist the medical staff in serving patients.
  • Schedule patient appointments following established guidelines and protocols set by administrative standards.
  • Prepare exam rooms.
  • Assess and record patients’ complete vitals, signs, and past medical history in the EMR system.
  • Perform EKGs.
  • Perform blood draws.
  • Assign patients to exam rooms and provide status checks periodically (when necessary).
  • Retrieve and review patient charts ensuring all test results, labs, and other documentation are included before the patient sees the provider for examination.
  • Ensure medical equipment, instruments, and exam rooms are cleaned and sanitized prior to each use.
  • Assist with venous insufficiency procedures as needed.
  • Dispose of all bio‑hazard equipment, instruments, materials, and PPE properly.
  • Complete any necessary forms for providers to review and follow up, such as prescription call‑ins or submissions for the patient.
  • Assist front‑desk coverage as needed and directed by medical staff and management.
  • Answer phone calls and assist with phone triage.
  • Perform other functions as determined by the medical staff.
Customer Relations
  • Treat guests, patients, physicians, and other employees with care, courtesy, and respect.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to customer requests.
  • Identify and suggest ways to better meet customer needs.
  • Respond to clinic communications systems promptly, courteously, and respectfully.
Teamwork
  • Work cooperatively within own department and with other areas.
  • Willingly accept additional responsibility and demonstrate cooperation at all times.
  • Respond quickly to requests for assistance from providers, co‑workers, or management staff.
  • Work closely with patients and associates.
  • Collaborate with other departments on problem‑solving efforts.
  • Accept feedback from patients, visitors, clinic employees, physicians, and the general public.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma.
  • Medical Assistant Diploma (preferred) or two years of experience.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Proficient with EMR systems.
