Job summary

Hartford HealthCare’s Backus Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide essential clinical and clerical support in patient care. The role emphasizes adherence to MA scope with ongoing training opportunities.

Qualified candidates may have a Medical Assistant diploma or CT CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification, and at least one year of direct patient care; BLS certification within 90 days is required. Excellent English communication and teamwork are expected.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program or CT CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification.
• At least one year of direct patient care experience may be considered in lieu of education.
• Certified BLS Provider credentialed by AHA within 3 months of hire.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below.

Experience

• In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.

Licensure, Certification, Registration

• Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.

Language Skills

• Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in English.

Preferred Requirements

Education

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Experience

• Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office. EPIC EMR experience.
