Family Health Centers of San Diego seeks a Medical Assistant to join a busy San Diego clinic. The role supports patient examinations, performs phlebotomy, administers injections, and maintains a clean clinical environment.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, assisting providers, managing referrals, and documenting in the EHR. Travel between sites is required; valid CA driver’s license is needed. Salary ranges from $28.00 to $32.67 per hour with full benefits.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant diploma required.
• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Current American Heart Association CPR (BLS) required; other advanced life support may be required.

Responsibilities

• Attends in-services or completes make-up assignments.
• Keeps sites in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
• Performs waived testing and phlebotomy.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe clinic environment.
• Prepares patients for examinations and procedures and assists providers as needed.
• May support provider productivity and manage clinic flow.
• Schedules follow-up appointments and communicates referral information.
• Responds to voicemails and returns calls promptly.
• Records patient information in EHR.
• May administer medications, including injections.
• Cleans, processes, and sterilizes medical instruments.
• Collects and handles laboratory specimens appropriately.
• Follows 5S and continuous quality improvement methods.

Assists with managing clinic flow, scheduling patient follow-up appointments, communicating referral information, and discharge instructions.* Responds to voicemails, routes messages, and returns phone calls in a timely manner.* Records patient information in Electronic Health Record (EHR).* May be responsible for administering medications, including injections.* May be responsible for cleaning, processing, and sterilizing medical instruments.* Collects and handles laboratory specimens appropriately.* Follows 5S and continuous quality improvement methods in the workplace* Performs other duties as assigned.**Requirements:*** Medical Assistant diploma from an approved course required.* High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.* Or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties and meets any required state or federal certification requirements.* Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advanced Resuscitation Training required.* Traveling between sites and other locations is occasionally required. Must have a valid California driver’s license, an automobile, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended. An acceptable driving record is also required. California law requires all drivers to obtain a valid California driver’s license within ten days of establishing residency.
