Job summary

Valley Family Health Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support examination and treatment under licensed supervision. The role prepares rooms, sterilizes equipment, and performs basic on-site labs and specimen handling.

The ideal candidate has formal Medical Assisting education or CMA/CCMA/RMA/NCMA certification and current BLS-CPR. Prior experience in a medical office is preferred, with readiness to work as part of a care team.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting school or CMA/CCMA/RMA/NCMA certification.
• Experience: Prefer previous medical office experience (front office, lab, setup).
• Licenses/Certifications: Current BLS-CPR Certification (AHA Provider).

POSITION TITLE: Medical Assistant

RESPONSIBLE TO: Practice Manager/Director of Nursing

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Purpose of this Position: The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a nurse, mid-level provider, and/or physician. The Medical Assistants prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients including sterilization, cleaning, and checks on medical equipment. A Medical Assistant prepares basic laboratory tests on premises and prepares laboratory specimens, as well as entering diagnostic or medication orders under the direction of a Licensed Independent Provider (LIP).

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting school or possess a current Medical Assisting Certification: (CMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA).
2. Experience: Prefer previous experience in a medical office (e.g., front office, lab experience, procedure set up, etc.)
3. Licenses/Certifications: Current BLS-CPR Certification (AHA Provider)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.
2. Documents information in patient record.
3. Performs various direct patient care activities under direction of licensed patient care provider.
4. Communicates information with patient care providers and other nursing staff members to facilitate patient care.
5. Assists physicians and other nursing staff members with procedures as appropriate.
6. Performs tasks and procedures as ordered by the physician or licensed provider consistent with approved protocols, policies, and procedures.
7. Performs tasks that require a unique body of knowledge and skills for that area of service.
8. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
2. Continuous sitting, standing, walking.
3. Correctable vision and hearing.
4. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
