Qualified applicants must commit to our vision and deliver exceptional patient care. Proficiency with computers, strong communication, listening, and problem-solving skills are required. Monday–Friday schedule; pay range $18–$28/hour; benefits package offered.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Maintain Medical Assistant Certification or eligibility.
  • Maintain current BLS through the American Heart Association.
  • CMA, RMA or other third-party accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate verbally in a professional manner with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Record patient data in electronic medical records (EMR) for providers.
  • Administer injections and have knowledge of immunizations.
  • Prepare exam rooms and sterilize instruments as needed.
  • Process lab work and schedule diagnostic tests while educating patients.
  • Relay prescriptions to the pharmacist and follow up on orders.
  • Manage the practice's patient population and daily operations.

Department: Behavioral Health Services
Location: Varies
Position Status: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $18.00 – $28.00 per hour

The compensation range listed above represents the good-faith range Pines Health Services anticipates relying upon when making an offer for this position. Starting pay is determined based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and market conditions.

Position Summary:

Pines Health Services, voted one of the 2025 Best Places to Work in ME, has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant to support our Behavioral Health Provider, who sees patients in several health centers. Qualified applicants must commit to our vision, mission, and goals while delivering exceptional patient care. Candidates should be proficient with computers, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be outstanding listeners, be adept at problem-solving, be able to prioritize workload and work professionally and independently. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the practice's patient population, ensuring smooth daily operations, screening patient calls for providers, assisting providers with procedures, and performing duties at designated work sites. Applicants should have a strong desire to work in the Behavioral Health field.

Essential Functions:

  1. Ability to communicate verbally in a professional manner with patients, providers, and staff.
  2. Ability to follow directions from physician or mid-level provider.
  3. Ability to record patient data in electronic medical record for providers (i.e., vital signs, vision tests, histories, etc.).
  4. Providing patient education on medications as needed.
  5. Ability to process lab work, office procedures, makes appointments for diagnostic or specialty testing while educating patients about procedures and preparation for procedures.
  6. Prepares exam rooms (including stocking medical supplies as needed) and cleans them for provider/patient needs.
  7. Completes proper sterilization of all office instruments and equipment as necessary.
  8. Assesses all clinical calls with provider to determine acuity.
  9. Must have the ability to administer injections and have knowledge of immunizations.
  10. Maintains smooth flow in daily schedule between providers and patients.
  11. Maintains electronic medical record, reads and adds dictation to records, and scans lab results.
  12. Upon provider orders, relays patient prescriptions to the pharmacist, follows up on orders, and notifies of test results.
  13. Responsible for obtaining and preparing electronic medical record for provider to review and document.

Requirements

Availability Requirements:

Monday through Friday, hours may vary according to patient care.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  1. Maintain Medical Assistant Certification or obtain upon eligibility.
  2. Maintain current BLS through the American Heart Association.

Certification: CMA, RMA, or other third-party accreditation for Medical Assisting, preferred.
