Job summary

Pediatrix Medical Group, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in delivering patient-centered care in a fast-paced practice in California.

The role blends clinical and administrative duties with a focus on accuracy and compassionate care. The Medical Assistant will greet patients, collect histories, assist with exams, prepare specimens, and coordinate tests and referrals while maintaining HIPAA compliance and a safe environment.

Qualifications

  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
  • Certification as Medical Assistant preferred or as required by State.
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and escort patients, obtain medical history, medications, allergies, and chief complaints, and document in the medical record.
  • Assist with patient flow to ensure timely visits.
  • Support high-quality patient experience through excellent customer service and communication with patients, families and other care providers while ensuring a safe patient care environment.
  • Provide assistance to physician and/or advanced practice provider in preparing and conducting medical exams and office procedures under direct guidance and supervision of physician and advanced practice provider.
  • Perform applicable medical procedures: collect and prepare laboratory specimens, administer injections/immunizations, and perform venipuncture, as allowed by state regulations.
  • Communicate information and instructions to patients as directed by physician, advanced practice provider, or nursing staff and ensure patient’s understanding of the information.
  • Assist with scheduling of tests, treatments, and follow-up appointments, and communicate test results to patients.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required.
  • Respond to calls and requests for referrals and appointments, triage and process messages, and requests from patients, clinic staff, referring physicians and pharmacies. Maintains patient files, records, and other information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Medical Assistant will support physicians and clinical staff in providing specialized patient care by performing both clinical and administrative duties specific to the practice’s area of focus. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. The Medical Assistant's primary responsibilities may vary based on state regulations.

Pay Range (Base Pay): $22.79 - $36.49 per hour

Starting Pay Range (Base Pay): $23.00 - $30.00 per hour

Full-time is classified as team members who are consistently scheduled and work 30 hours or more on a weekly basis. Full-time team members are eligible for the following:

NOTE: Team members at least 21 years old and are active full-time or part-time employee are eligible to participate in our 401(k) Plan at the time of hire. Team members who meet the plan’s minimum age requirement can enroll in the plan at any time, and contributions will begin as soon as administratively possible.

Team Members are eligible to begin participating in the ESPP if they have been employed by Pediatrix for two consecutive months prior to the start of each calendar quarterly offering period and are scheduled to work a minimum of 20 hours per week for five consecutive months during the year.

Paid Time Off: All full-time team members are eligible for PTO that may be used for time away from work. Team members hired before the 15th of the month accrue PTO the first month of employment; however, team members hired on or after the 16th of the month begin accruing PTO the month following date of hire. Team members are entitled to PTO according to the following methodology:

  • 0 – 4 full years: Annual PTO 18 days (144 hours), Hours Accrued Monthly 12.0 hours, Maximum Accrual 27 days (216 hours).
  • 5 – 8 full years: Annual PTO 23 days (184 hours), Hours Accrued Monthly 15.33 hours, Maximum Accrual 34.5 days (276 hours).
  • More than 8 full years: Annual PTO 28 days (224 hours), Hours Accrued Monthly 18.67 hours, Maximum Accrual 42 days (336 hours).

Team members accrue PTO as they work up to the maximum accruals stated above. After reaching the maximum accrual, a team member does not accrue additional PTO time until the team member uses sufficient PTO to fall below the maximum permissible accruals. Full-time team members who work less than 40 hours will accrue on a pro rata basis.

Paid Holidays: The Company observes the following Holidays: New Year's Day; Memorial Day; Juneteenth; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day; Friday after Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Eve; Christmas Day; and 1 Floating Holiday.

NOTE: The paid holidays above are offered to regular full-time team members upon employment. Full-time team members who work fewer than 40 hours per week will receive holiday pay on a pro-rated basis.
