Qualifications

Job description

The Care Promoter 1 is an unlicensed medical professional cross-trained to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical centers running smoothly. The duties of Care Promoter 1 vary from setting to setting, depending on the size, location and type. In addition to administrative duties, Care Promoters perform clinical duties under direct physician supervision in accordance with state medical practice acts. The Care Promoter 1 is an integral member of a Physician-led Care Team focused on providing excellent and comprehensive primary care for a specific patient population.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Measure and record patient vital signs; record patient interview and medical history.
  2. Communicate patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and other clinical personnel.
  3. Prepare patients for examinations, perform routine screening tests, assist physicians, and explain procedures and instructions.
  4. Observe patients and report changes to the healthcare team.
  5. Perform non-critical medical procedures, collect lab specimens, and perform basic waived lab tests.
  6. Prepare and administer medications, change dressings, and perform first aid procedures under physician supervision.
  7. Maintain supplies and equipment, practice OSHA safety standards, and ensure accurate documentation.
  8. Process patient messages, relay information, and support prescription calls with physician approval.
  9. Provide health coaching to support healthy lifestyle choices with follow-up calls.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with compassion and empathy.
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.
  • Problem-solving mindset focused on patient care and team goals.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, products, and procedures.
  • Proficient in basic phone and computer operations.
  • Detail-oriented with effective systems for patient flow.
  • Calmness in busy or stressful situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% regionally.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare training required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting or clinical rotation training.
  • Experience with geriatric patients is a plus.
  • EMR system experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within first 90 days.
