The Medical Assistant will work closely with patients throughout their entire visit, from check-in to check-out, providing essential clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers in a heart and vascular clinic. This position offers extensive hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced clinical setting and is particularly well‑suited for recent graduates seeking clinical, scribe, and patient‑facing hours in preparation for medical school or other advanced healthcare programs. The role combines direct patient care, medical scribing, and coordination of follow‑up tasks, creating a strong foundation for a future career in healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Support patients from check‑in to check‑out to ensure a seamless and positive visit experience.
  • Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and other relevant clinical information accurately and efficiently.
  • Serve as a medical scribe during patient visits, accurately documenting the providers assessment, plan, and any other key clinical details in the electronic medical record.
  • Present patient information, updates, and relevant findings to the physician before the exam to facilitate efficient and informed care.
  • Follow up with the provider after each visit to complete orders, referrals, and next steps in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Use electronic medical records, including Epic EMR, to document patient encounters and update clinical information.
  • Provide professional, courteous customer service to patients, families, and clinical staff.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and other providers to support patient care throughout the full visit.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in all clinical and documentation tasks.
  • Contribute to a positive, learning-focused clinical environment by actively engaging in training and development opportunities.
  • Bachelors degree required, preferably in pre‑med, biology, integrative physiology, or a related pre‑med field.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a future career in healthcare.
  • Customer service experience in a patient‑facing or client‑facing environment.
  • Experience or exposure to medical assisting, patient care, or clinical settings.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and basic healthcare concepts.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast‑paced clinical environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients and providers.
  • High level of professionalism and reliability in all interactions and responsibilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly in documentation and scribing tasks.
  • Experience with electronic medical records, especially Epic EMR.
  • Prior scribe or medical assistant experience is highly valued.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Pre‑med academic path or related coursework such as biology or integrative physiology.
  • Previous medical assistant experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
  • Prior scribe experience documenting provider assessments and plans.
  • Interest in obtaining the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential, with support available to pursue this certification.
  • Motivation to gain clinical hours and patient‑facing experience in preparation for medical school or other advanced healthcare programs.
  • Desire to build long‑term professional relationships and networking opportunities within a heart and vascular clinical environment.

This role is based in a heart and vascular clinic environment, providing direct exposure to specialized cardiovascular care. The Medical Assistant will work primarily in clinic locations in Lakewood (Golden area) and another nearby site, with the expectation of floating between the two locations as needed.

Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with schedules commonly ranging from 35 to 40 hours per week to allow flexibility for interviews or academic commitments. The clinic uses Epic EMR and other modern healthcare technologies to support patient care and documentation.
