ABOUT MIDWAY SPECIALTY CARE

Midway Specialty Care is a nonprofit healthcare organization committed to providing high-quality, compassionate, and accessible care to the communities we serve. Through our growing network of locations and dedicated healthcare professionals, we work to create an environment where patients receive exceptional care and employees are empowered to make a meaningful difference.

Our continued growth depends on talented people who share our commitment to service, collaboration, accountability, and excellence. At Midway, every role contributes to our ability to strengthen our organization, support our teams, and deliver an exceptional experience for the patients and communities who depend on us.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

At Midway, Medical Assistants are essential members of our patient care teams, helping create a welcoming, safe, and supportive experience for every patient.

We are seeking a skilled, compassionate, and adaptable Medical Assistant to join our team. This is a versatile, hands‑on role that supports both back‑office clinical care and front‑office patient services to ensure efficient clinic operations and a seamless patient experience.

From performing phlebotomy and venipuncture, obtaining vital signs, and assisting providers with clinical procedures to managing patient check‑in/check‑out, scheduling, and documentation, our Medical Assistants play an important role in delivering high-quality, patient‑centered care.

Working with patients receiving HIV, hepatitis, STI, and other infectious disease and specialty care services requires exceptional attention to safety, confidentiality, professionalism, and compassionate, nonjudgmental care.

The ideal candidate is clinically proficient, detail-oriented, and flexible, with the ability to transition between clinical and administrative responsibilities while supporting the needs of patients, providers, and the broader clinic team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Patient Care & Clinical Support: Welcome patients, prepare them for examinations and treatments, obtain and accurately document vital signs, medical histories, and other relevant clinical information, and assist providers with patient care activities.

Phlebotomy & Specimen Collection: Perform venipuncture, blood draws, and other authorized specimen collection procedures in accordance with training, demonstrated competency, applicable requirements, and established clinical protocols. Ensure proper specimen identification, labeling, handling, and preparation for laboratory processing.

Clinical Procedures & Testing: Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and approved point‑of‑care testing while maintaining appropriate patient safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.

Front‑Office & Patient Registration: Support patient check‑in and check‑out, registration, demographic and insurance updates, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and other administrative activities to ensure accurate records and efficient patient flow.

Patient Scheduling & Coordination: Assist with appointment confirmations, follow‑up scheduling, referrals, and communication between patients, providers, and other care team members to support continuity of care.

Electronic Medical Records & Documentation: Accurately enter, update, and maintain patient information, clinical documentation, and visit‑related records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Infectious Disease & Specialty Care Support: Provide compassionate, respectful, and nonjudgmental support to patients receiving HIV, hepatitis, STI, and other infectious disease or specialty care services, demonstrating sensitivity to patient needs, privacy, and confidentiality.

Infection Prevention & Patient Safety: Consistently follow standard precautions, bloodborne pathogen safety practices, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), sharps safety, hand hygiene, cleaning and disinfection protocols, and other established infection prevention procedures to protect patients, colleagues, and the clinical environment.

Patient Experience & Communication: Provide professional, compassionate, and culturally responsive service, address routine patient questions within the scope of the role, and elevate clinical concerns or sensitive matters to appropriate licensed staff.

Clinical Readiness & Supply Management: Prepare and maintain examination rooms, equipment, and supplies; monitor inventory; support equipment cleaning and maintenance; and ensure clinical areas remain organized, safe, and ready for patient care.

Front‑Office & Back‑Office Flexibility: Effectively transition between clinical and administrative responsibilities based on patient volume, staffing, and operational needs, helping maintain efficient clinic operations and a seamless patient experience.

Regional Clinic Support & Coverage: Provide clinical and administrative support at other Midway Specialty Care locations within the assigned region and, when needed, across the organization's broader footprint. Travel and temporary clinic coverage will be coordinated with advance notice and appropriate scheduling based on operational needs.

Team Collaboration & Accountability: Work closely with providers, nurses, office managers, and other team members to coordinate patient care, address workflow needs, and maintain consistent service and quality standards.

Compliance & Confidentiality: Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, organizational policies, applicable healthcare requirements, and established clinical procedures.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
