Job summary

Insight Institute of Neuroscience & Neurosurgery (IINN) in Michigan is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff. The MA will take vital signs, assist with patient interviews, treatments, and EMR data entry, while also handling administrative duties such as answering calls and scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required.
  • High school diploma or GED required; advanced degrees preferred in healthcare/biology.
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred; CPR training within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Take vital signs and assist providers with patient care.
  • Perform data entry in the EMR system and maintain patient records.
  • Answer phones and handle patient scheduling and reminders.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and hospital policy compliance.
  • Greet patients professionally and support cross-functional clinical teams.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the acting physician, our Medical Assistants work in conjunction with staff and physicians to support the delivery of patient care second to none! The MA will take vital signs, assist the provider with our interview and care processes, treatments, delivery and transport of each patient, as directed by the physician. The Medical Assistant thrives in a fast-paced, team oriented environment with professionals in neurology, pain management, chiropractic, podiatry and many more. This position is cross-trained in all clinical administrative processes, therefore the MA will also answer phones, obtain prior insurance authorizations, perform patient reminder calls, and enter information into the EMR. The MA is required to maintain patient and hospital confidentiality at all times. Top candidates for this role show a strength in administering fantastic customer service skills and patient care.

Duties:
  • Screen patients while performing and recording vital signs
  • Perform data entry through Electronic Medical Record system
  • Maintain medical records and patient confidentiality
  • Disinfect and clean room after each patient
  • Explains treatment to patients as needed
  • Change sutures and dressings as needed
  • Answer phone calls in a friendly manner and acts as operator for the Hospital
  • Greets and interacts with patients in a friendly and polite mannerOther Administrative duties as needed such as register patients and schedule appointments
  • Ability to multitask and move between responsibilities in fluid manner
  • Adheres to Jcaho hospital standards and PolicyStat policies
  • Monitors supplies and inventory as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's Degrees strongly preferred in the areas related to Healthcare and Biology.
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • Must be able to achieve CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to show superior patient care.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and drive.
  • Able to work compassionately with patients and coworkers to exhibit patient care second to none
  • Exudes respect and flexibility to impact the workplace in a positive manner.
  • Ability to relate and work effectively with others; works well within a team environment
  • Demonstrates excellent skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care, in order to meet documentation standards.
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement.
  • Previous experience and familiarity with EMRs is preferred.
  • Is aware of standards and performs in accordance with them.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
