Job summary

Las Clinicas Del Norte, Inc. is staffing a full-time Medical Assistant to support physicians in patient intake, vital signs, and medical record management. You will assist with basic treatments, specimen collection, and diagnostic scheduling, while maintaining infection control and patient confidentiality.

Work is in-person at clinic sites with a 4x10 schedule (Mon-Fri), no nights or weekends, and a comprehensive benefits package including health, retirement, and education opportunities.

Qualifications

  • EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred).
  • Vital signs: 1 year (Preferred).
  • BLS Certification (Preferred).
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred).
  • Background and reference checks required.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge and implement medical policies and procedures to ensure quality patient care.
  • Record vital statistics, review medications, and prepare patient histories for encounters.
  • Provide staff support by assisting with treatments, collecting specimens, and tasks.
  • Assist with medical tasks under provider direction and coordinate diagnostics and follow-up.
  • Organize electronic health records and ensure proper documentation.
  • Adhere to infection control standards and use PPE as required.
  • Assist patients and families with paperwork, translation as assigned, and confidentiality.
  • Ensure adequate medical supplies and notify staff when items are needed.
  • Maintain skills through ongoing education and in-house trainings.
  • Participate in team meetings and recall/reminder follow-ups with patients.

  • ENSURES QUALITY PATIENT CARE by acknowledging, adhering to and implementing overall organizational and medical policies and operating procedures of Las Clinicas del Norte; committing to serve patients and helping to improve their health. Works collaboratively, and in cooperation with fellow team members and with others in the organization, treats them with respect, courtesy and consideration, and shows understanding and the appropriate support of other team members to help get the job done.
  • PREPARES PATIENT FOR PHYSICIAN ENCOUNTER by recording vital statistics, symptoms, and reviewing medications list, all histories and updating accordingly.
  • PROVIDES STAFF SUPPORT by performing ordered simple treatments under the direction of ordering provider; collecting and processing laboratory specimens; providing timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • ASSURES PATIENT SAFETY by observing and reporting any unusual behavior, condition or concerns. Complies with and actively supports all applicable workplace environmental health and safety policies, work rules and practices, giving maximum effort to performing job functions in a manner that protects the health and safety of the incumbent, co-workers and the general public.
  • ASSISTS IN THE PERFORMANCE OF MEDICAL TASKS by helping providers with patients; giving selected medical instructions to patients and/or members of the family on general health care under the instruction of licensed medical providers; scheduling and tracking ordered diagnostic (labs and imaging) studies and consult appointments to include follow up on results not received timely.
  • ASSISTS IN THE ORGANIZATION OF THE ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORD by preparing and updating patient histories and medication lists; assuring proper documentation and placement of records, results and notes.
  • ADHERES TO INFECTION CONTROL STANDARDS AND PRACTICES by implementing aseptic and sterile techniques when required, using personal protective equipment as required; demonstrating proper instrument cleaning, sterilization and storage.
  • ASSISTS PATIENTS AND FAMILIES by assessing communication barriers, providing translation services as assigned and assisting with completion of clinic paperwork; communicating in a professional manner with patents/families, maintaining confidentiality and treating patients/ family members with respect.
  • ASSISTS CLINIC'S LEAD MEDICAL ASSISTANT AND CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER by assuring adequate medical supplies and equipment; maintaining sufficient exam room supplies daily and by notifying appropriate staff timely when medical supplies are needed.
  • MAINTAINS AND UPDATES SKILLS by continuing education by attending seminars related to job responsibilities; attending required in-house trainings.
  • CONTRIBUTES TO THE TEAM EFFORT by performing related tasks as needed; participating regularly in team meetings, daily huddles and monthly QA/PI meetings; demonstrating positive working relationships and communications with team members; performing additional duties as assigned such as making contact on a periodic basis with patients who are flagged for reminder/recall, assuring they receive timely follow up depending upon their diagnoses, age and the services for which they are due and facilitating post-hospital discharge follow-up.
  • PERFORM other duties as assigned and which are deemed necessary or desirable by LCDN.
