Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc. is seeking a Clinic Medical Assistant in Durango, Colorado to support healthcare providers and clinical staff with a mix of clinical and administrative duties.

You will help maintain a safe, organized, and compassionate patient environment and ensure efficient clinic operations. The role reports to the Director, Outpatient Services / Manager, Business Office and requires 1–2 years of clinical or medical office experience, with a CMA/RMA preferred or required per policy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred or required per clinic policy.
• 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or medical office setting preferred.
• Experience with EHR systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during clinical procedures.
• Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient information accurately.
• Perform basic clinical tasks such as injections, specimen collection, and EKGs (as permitted by scope of practice).
• Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and document patient care in EHR systems.
• Schedule patient appointments and assist with patient flow.
• Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines.
• Assist with front desk tasks, including patient check‑in and check‑out.
• Handle phone calls, messages, and patient inquiries as needed.
• Support inventory management and ordering of medical supplies.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education.

This role is essential in creating a safe, organized, and compassionate environment for patients.

Hourly Range

$18.75 - $27.46 (posted hourly range excludes overtime and bonuses which are not guaranteed)

Essential Job Functions

• Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during clinical procedures
• Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient information accurately
• Perform basic clinical tasks such as injections, specimen collection, and EKGs (as permitted by scope of practice)
• Maintain clean, organized, and well‑stocked exam rooms
• Document patient care in electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Schedule patient appointments and assist with patient flow
• Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines

Additional Duties

Education & Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience

• 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or medical office setting preferred
• Experience with EHR systems and basic clinical procedures preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods
• Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds
• Manual dexterity to perform clinical tasks and use medical equipment
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff

Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures

Environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids, various infectious/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation, and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste, proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary.

ASH IMMUNIZATIONS AND VACCINATIONS REQUIREMENTS

• Hepatitis B- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals
• Influenza- documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year)
• Measles, Mumps, and Rubella - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination
• Varicella (chickenpox) - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine
• Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) - documented proof of immunization
• Tuberculosis Screening - Documentation of a two-step TB skin test within the past year OR lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T-Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months
• VACCINE RECORDS OR EVIDENCE OF IMMUNITY ARE REQUIRED PRIOR TO 1ST DAY OF SCHEDULED WORK
