Job summary

WellPower in Denver, CO is seeking a Medical Assistant to support psychiatric care under a psychiatrist. You will conduct intake interviews, collect vital signs, and assist with injections and blood draws.

You will document medical histories and test results in consumer medical records and share information with the treatment team to support integrated care. The role requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program; certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Minimum one year of experience in a clinical or medical office setting.
• Experience in a community mental health or behavioral health environment preferred.
• Certification as Medical Assistant preferred.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of a Psychiatrist and in collaboration with the clinical team, the Medical Assistant supports psychiatric care by conducting intake interviews, collecting vital signs, administering medications and injections, and drawing blood for testing. This role is also responsible for accurately recording information of the people we serve (PWS) in medical records and ensuring continuity of care.

The posted range represents the full hiring range. Offers will not exceed this range, the majority of candidates are placed near the midpoint based on experience and qualifications.

Job Duties & Functions:

• Collect blood specimens and prepare them for laboratory testing.
• Conduct intake interviews to gather consumer medical histories.
• Measure and record vital signs, including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
• Document medical history, test results, and vital statistics in consumer medical records.
• Share relevant medical information with the treatment team to support integrated care.
• Coordinate medical care with clinical staff and psychiatrists.
• Foster a trauma-informed environment that promotes wellness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Certification as a Medical Assistant is strongly preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience in a clinical or medical office setting required. Experience working in a community mental health center or behavioral health environment is strongly preferred.

Shift/Hours:

This is a Monday-Friday opportunity observing standard business hours.

Physical Requirements:

Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, the telephone and other office and/or clinical equipment.
